About Twin Valley Maryland Rum Co Special Reserve Barrel-Aged Rum
Twin Valley Distillers was founded by Edgardo Zuniga, who emigrated from Costa Rica to Maryland. With the Tropics in his blood, the Maryland Rum Co. Special Reserve Barrel-Aged Rum is a nod to his homeland and the Caribbean. Crafted traditionally using sugar and molasses, the rum is aged in ex-bourbon casks for a year. Bottled at 90 proof, it’s a sipping rum that’s sweet with notes of molasses, vanilla, tropical fruit, oak, and a touch of smoke.

About Rum
Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.
We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
